The Nebraska Society of Medical Assistants (NSMA) is a professional organization for medical assistants in Nebraska. We are a non-profit organization that was established in 1957. Our mission is to promote and support the professional development of medical assistants in Nebraska.

We are dedicated to providing educational opportunities and resources for our members, as well as advocating for the profession of medical assisting. We strive to promote excellence in patient care and expand the role of medical assistants in the healthcare team.

NSMA is a non-profit educational and professional association serving medical assistants, students and those interested in the medical assisting profession in Nebraska.

Medical assistants perform many essential administrative and clinical tasks in physicians’ offices, clinics and other healthcare settings. They are often the vital link between the physician and the patient. Nebraska Society of Medical Assistants (NSMA) members are employed in all areas of healthcare including: primary care, surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, geriatrics, mental health industrial medicine and many more.

The Nebraska Society of Medical Assistants strives to enhance the professional image and competence of medical assistants through continuing education, certification and advocacy. We promote high ethical and professional standards and award scholarships annually to medical assisting students who show outstanding promise in their studies.

Nebraska Society of Medical Assistants: Our Programs

The Nebraska Society of Medical Assistants (NSMA) is a state chapter of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). The NSMA is a non-profit organization, founded in 1957 and currently comprised of five active local societies. Our purpose is to promote quality medical assisting education and certification, and to enhance the professional development of our members through continuing education and leadership opportunities.

NSMA offers several programs for medical assistants, including:

-Continuing Education: NSMA members have access to discounted rates on continuing education courses and conferences, both online and in person. We also offer a free CEU tracking system to help members keep track of their credits.

-Leadership Opportunities: NSMA members can get involved in shaping the future of medical assisting by joining one of our committees or task forces, or by running for a position on the Board of Directors.

-Professional Certification: NSMA members who are certified medical assistants can take advantage of our exclusive discounts on recertification fees. We also offer a mentor program for new certified medical assistants, as well as a job board with employment opportunities specifically for certified medical assistants.
