What are the UCare Guidelines?

To be eligible for UCare medical assistance, you must meet certain income and asset guidelines. In general, you must have an annual income that is below 133% of the federal poverty level (FPL), which is $16,978 for a single person or $23,265 for a family of two as of 2020. You may also qualify if your income is slightly higher but you have other financial hardships, such as high medical expenses or being pregnant.

In addition to meeting the income requirements, you must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident, be a Minnesota resident and not be currently incarcerated. If you are under the age of 21, you must also be unemployed or not attending school full-time.
