I have always been interested in the medical field and helping others. When I was younger, I would often pretend to be a doctor or nurse with my friends. I would also help my grandparents when they were not feeling well. As I grew older, I realized that I wanted to turn my passion for helping others into a career. After doing some research, I decided that becoming a medical assistant was the best way for me to accomplish my goals.

I am interested in this position because it will allow me to interact with patients on a daily basis while also providing me with the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of a medical office or facility. Additionally, I have always been extremely detail-oriented and organized, which I believe will come in handy when performing clerical duties such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.

Ultimately, becoming a medical assistant would give me the chance to make a difference in the lives of others while also pursuing my own interests and career goals.

Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer or patient.

I was working the front desk at a doctor’s office when a woman came in who was very angry. She was yelling and demanding to see the doctor. I tried to calm her down and explained that the doctor was with another patient but would be happy to see her as soon as possible. I offered to have her take a seat in the waiting room, but she refused and continued to demand to see the doctor. I could tell she was becoming more and more agitated, so I called for one of the other medical assistants to come out and help me. Together, we were able to get her calmed down enough to take a seat in the waiting room. We checked on her every few minutes until the doctor was finished with his current patient, and then we brought her back to an exam room.

How do you handle stress while working?

At my previous job, I was working at an OBGYN office. We had a patient who was very pregnant and having a lot of trouble getting around. I offered to help her to her car and get her whatever she needed from her appointment. She was really grateful, and it made me feel good to be able to help her.
