What is a Medical Assistant?

A medical assistant is a person who has been specifically trained to perform both administrative and clinical tasks in a medical office. They are usually the first point of contact between the patient and the doctor.

Medical assistants perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: patient registration and reception, scheduling appointments, taking patients’ medical histories and vital signs,preparing patients for examination,assisting the physician during examinations, handling laboratory specimens,performing basic laboratory tests, giving injections,treating minor injuries and assisting with office surgery.

Duties of a Medical Assistant
