Columbus State Offers Medical Assistant Program

Columbus State’s Medical Assistant Program is a four-semester program that leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree. The program is designed to prepare students for a career in the medical field assisting physicians and other health care professionals.

The curriculum includes coursework in anatomy and physiology, Medical Terminology pharmacology, clinical procedures, and administrative duties. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an externship to gain real-world experience.

The Columbus State Medical Assistant Program

The Columbus State Medical Assistant Program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform medical administrative and clinical tasks in a variety of healthcare settings.

The program curriculum includes coursework in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical office procedures, medical insurance billing and coding, and patient care. Clinical rotations allow students to gain hands-on experience in a variety of medical settings, such as doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals, and nursing homes

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination administered by the American Association of Medical assistants (AAMA).
