The UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program provides free or reduced-cost healthcare services to eligible patients who cannot afford to pay their medical bills To be eligible for the program, patients must meet certain criteria, including:
– having a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level
– being a resident of the state of Tennessee
– being uninsured or underinsured
– not being eligible for Medicaid or any other government health insurance program.
Patients who meet these criteria can receive free or reduced-cost care for all medical services provided by the UT Medical Center, including hospitalization, surgery, physician services, laboratory testing, and radiology.
How can the UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program help me?
The UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program is a state-funded program that helps low-income, uninsured Texas residents pay for health care services at participating UT Medical Centers. The program pays for a variety of health care services, including:
-Doctor visits
-Hospital stays
–mental health services
-Substance abuse treatment
-Prescription medications
-Laboratory and radiology tests
To be eligible for the program, you must:

If you cannot pay your medical bill in full, we offer a financial assistance program to help those who demonstrate a financial need. You must complete a Financial Assistance Application and provide supporting documentation of your household income and expenses.

What are the deadlines for the UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program?
The UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program offers discounts to patients who are unable to pay their medical bills in full. In order to qualify for assistance, patients must meet certain income and assets criteria. The program has two primary deadlines:
-Patients must apply for assistance within 60 days of their first bill from UT Medical Center
-Patients must complete the application process within 90 days of their first bill from UT Medical Center
Patients who miss either of these deadlines may still be able to receive assistance if they can show extenuating circumstances that prevented them from meeting the deadline.
How will I know if I am approved for the UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program?
You will receive a letter in the mail within 30 days of your application telling you if you are approved for the program.
What is the appeal process for the UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program?
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your application for financial assistance, you have the right to appeal that decision. Please contact our offices within 30 days of the date on your notification letter to request an appeal. You will be asked to provide additional documentation to support your appeal. A panel of three UT Medical Center employees will review your information and render a decision. You will be notified in writing of the outcome of your appeal.

What happens if I stop paying my UT Medical Center bill?
If you stop paying your UT Medical Center bill, we will take appropriate measures to collect the debt. This may include hiring a collection agency or taking legal action. delinquent accounts will be subject to a late payment charge of 1.5% per month (18% per year) and all reasonable collection costs, including attorneys’ fees.
Can I get help with my UT Medical Center bill if I am not eligible for the Financial Assistance Program?
