The Health First Medical Assistant program is a seven-month, full-time curriculum that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a medical assistant. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and is designed to prepare students to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

The curriculum includes classes such as Medical Terminology medical law and ethics, human anatomy and physiology, clinical procedures, administrative procedures, and externship opportunities. Students also have the opportunity to participate in an optional externship program.

Now that you have decided that you would like to become a Medical Assistant, it is time to take the next step and apply to Health First’s Medical Assistant Program.

The first step in the admission process is to complete the online application. Once your application has been received, you will be contacted by a Health First Admissions Advisor to schedule an appointment for an interview.

The interview will give you an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about the program, as well as allowing us to get to know you better. Following your interview, you will be required to complete a background check and drug screen.

Once these items have been completed, your file will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and you will be notified of their decision.

Health First’s Medical Assistant Program – The Campus

The Health First Medical Assistant program is offered at the following locations:

Health First’s Brevard County campuses in Melbourne and Palm Bay
Valencia College’s West and East campuses in Orange and Osceola counties

The Health First program is a full-time, daytime program that takes place over the course of nine months. The Valencia College program is a part-time, evening program that takes place over the course of 18 months.
