What is the FSW Medical Assistant Program?

The FSW Medical Assistant Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform administrative and clinical tasks in a medical office setting. The program consists of two semesters of coursework, which can be taken concurrently, followed by an externship. The academic portion of the program includes classroom and laboratory instruction in Medical Terminology anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, office procedures, medical insurance billing and coding, and patient care. Students also receive training in EKG interpretation, phlebotomy, and CPR. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant Exam administered by the American Association of Medical assistants (AAMA).
