Eisenhower Medical Center offers a variety of financial assistance programs to help patients with the cost of their healthcare.

1.Eisenhower Medical Center’s Financial Assistance

Eisenhower Medical Center is committed to helping patients and families receive the medically necessary care they need, regardless of their ability to pay.

Eisenhower offers a number of financial assistance programs to help patients with their medical expenses. The programs are designed to help patients who:
-Have no health insurance coverage,
– Whose health insurance does not cover all or part of their medical expenses,
– Are underinsured ( have coverage but it doesn’t cover the full amount of their bill), or
– Have a limited or no ability to pay for their care.

Eligibility for financial assistance is based on patients’ or guarantors’ household incomes and assets. Patients must complete a Financial Assistance Application and provide documentation of their income and assets.

2.Eligibility for Financial Assistance

In order to qualify for financial assistance, a patient must:

A. Have a medical condition that requires the use of Eisenhower Medical Center’s facilities and services; AND

B. Be unable to pay for all or part of the medical care received at Eisenhower Medical Center; AND

C. Meet the income guidelines set forth below.

The following table outlines the poverty level guidelines that were effective as of January 2017 and will be used to determine a patient’s eligibility for assistance. The poverty guidelines are updated annually. Patients may also qualify based on circumstances not captured in this table, such as high unreimbursed medical expenses relative to their income or total family assets.

3.How to Apply for Financial Assistance

Eisenhower Medical Center is committed to helping our patients with the cost of their care. We offer a variety of financial assistance programs to help those in need, including:
-A sliding fee scale for those who qualify
-Discounts for early payment
-Charity care for those who meet certain income guidelines
-Payment plans

4.What Financial Assistance is Available

Eisenhower Medical Center is committed to providing quality medical care to all members of our community, regardless of their ability to pay.

Patients who are unable to pay their bill in full may qualify for financial assistance. To see if you qualify, please contact our Business Office at 760-837-8418.

Patients who do not qualify for financial assistance may still be eligible for a reduced payment plan. For more information on payment plans, please contact our Business Office at 760-837-8418.

5.What to Do if You Can’t Afford Your Bill

Eisenhower Medical Center is committed to providing quality care to all members of our community, regardless of their ability to pay. We offer several options to help patients and families who are struggling to pay their medical bills

If you have a medical emergency, please go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

If you have a non-emergency but need medical care, please call our Patient Financial Services Department at (760) 837-8430 to discuss payment options.

We offer several financial assistance programs for patients who qualify, including:
-A discount for patients who do not have insurance and are unable to pay their bill in full
-A sliding scale fee for patients based on income and family size
-Payment plans for patients who are unable to pay their bill in full
-Charity care for patients with extreme financial hardship

We also offer free or reduced price care for many of our services, including:
-Screenings and immunizations
-Wellness checks and physicals for children under 18
-Laboratory tests
-Maternity care for low income pregnant women

6.How to Appeal a Denied Application

If your application for financial assistance has been denied, you have the right to appeal the decision. To do so, you will need to submit a written request for review to the Financial Assistance Office within 30 days of receiving the denial notice. Include in your letter any new information or documentation that you believe will support your case for appeal.

The Financial Assistance Office will review your request and make a determination within 14 days. If you are still not satisfied with the outcome, you may appeal the decision to the Financial Aid Committee by submitting a written request within 30 days of receiving notice of the denial from the Financial Assistance Office. The Committee will review your case and render a decision within 30 days.

Eisenhower Medical Center is committed to helping patients and families with the cost of health care We offer two main types of financial assistance for our patients:

-Charity Care is free or discounted care for patients who cannot afford to pay their medical bills. Patients must meet certain income and other criteria to qualify for this program.
-The Self-Pay Discount is a discount off the total bill for patients who do not have health insurance and who cannot afford to pay their medical bills in full. To qualify, patients must provide proof of income and residency.
