If you’re having difficulty filling your medications or are concerned about the cost of your prescriptions, the CWI Associate Vice President for Health Affairs may be able to help.

The AVP administers a program that helps eligible faculty and staff members with certain out-of-pocket costs associated with their prescription medications. To be eligible, faculty and staff must:

-Be benefits-eligible;
– Meet certain income guidelines; and
– Have no other prescription drug coverage.

If you are having difficulty getting the medications you need, Community Warden Services (CWI) may be able to help.

CWI is a free service that provides support and assistance to seniors living in their own homes. Services include helping with light housekeeping, providing transportation, and checking on the welfare of isolated seniors.

In addition to these services, CWI can also help seniors access the medications they need. If you or someone you know is struggling to get their prescriptions filled, please contact CWI for assistance.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Medication Assistance

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) offers a program called the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS). The LIS program pays for some or all of your Part D costs if you have a limited income and resources. You may be able to get help with your monthly premiums, yearly deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.

If you think you might be eligible for assistance, the first step is to contact your state’s Medicaid office or the Social Security Administration. You can also contact the CMS at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).

If you are eligible for assistance, you will need to enroll in a Part D plan that offers the LIS. You can do this online at https://www.medicare.gov/ or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).

Once you are enrolled in a plan, you will need to provide proof of your income and assets to the plan. You can do this by sending in a copy of your most recent tax return or by providing other documentation such as bank statements or pay stubs.
