Introduction
The International Medical Assistance Team (IMAT) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that provides medical aid and assistance to underserved communities around the world. IMAT was founded in 2009 in response to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti. Since then, we have continued to provide assistance to communities in need, both in Haiti and other countries.
IMAT is composed of medical professionals and other skilled volunteers from a variety of backgrounds who share a commitment to helping those in need. We provide direct medical care, as well as support for local health care infrastructure and capacity building. In addition, IMAT engages in advocacy and education work on behalf of our beneficiaries.

The International Medical Assistance Team (IMAT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides medical and dental care to underserved communities around the world. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their circumstances.
IMAT was founded in 2006 by Dr. David Gaus, a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Linda Gaus, a registered nurse. Since then, we have grown into a team of over 400 volunteers from all over the United States We have provided medical and dental care to thousands of people in need in countries such as Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, the Philippines, and Tanzania.
We provide a wide range of services, including but not limited to: primary care, surgery, OB/GYN care, dental care, optometry/eye care, and public health education. Our medical and dental teams are made up of doctors, nurses, dentists, hygienists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, pharmacists, physician assistants, and physical therapists; we also have a large support team of non-medical volunteers who help with everything from marketing to logistics.
We are entirely volunteer-based; our volunteers cover their own travel expenses and donate their time and skills to IMAT. We are able to keep our operating costs low thanks to the generosity of our volunteers and donors.
