Who is eligible for PCSO medical assistance?
Patients must be permanent, legal residents of the Philippines
Patients must be indigent, meaning they are unable to afford medical care
Patients must have a disease that is curable and/or a condition that is amenable to treatment
Patients must not have any other health insurance coverage (e.g. Philhealth, HMO)
What are the requirements for PCSO medical assistance?
As of 2021, the requirements for PCSO Medical Assistance are as follows:
-You must be a Philippine citizen.
-You must be a resident of the Philippines.
-You must be indigent, meaning you cannot afford to pay for your medical treatment.
-You must have a referral from a licensed physician.
How to apply for PCSO medical assistance?
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) provides Medical Assistance to indigent patients in government hospitals and select private hospitals nationwide.
To avail of the program, patients must first secure a charity assistance application form from any PCSO-authorized hospital. The duly accomplished form must be submitted to the PCSO Branch where the patient will be referred for evaluation and approval.
Once approved, the patient will be given a PCSO Identification Number (PIN) which he/she will use when availing of medical services at any PCSO-authorized hospital.

What are the different types of medical assistance offered by PCSO?
There are three types of medical assistance programs offered by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office or PCSO. These are the Individual Medical Assistance Program (IMAP), the St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City (SLMC-GC) Indigent Patients Fund Assistance Program, and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) Patient Financial Assistance Program.
The IMAP assists financially challenged patients who wish to be treated in private hospitals within Metro Manila. On the other hand, the St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City (SLMC-GC) Indigent Patients Fund Assistance Program provides financial assistance to patients who wish to be treated at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Global City, Taguig. Lastly, the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) Patient Financial Assistance Program offers financial assistance to patients who require kidney transplantation or dialysis treatment at NKTI.

How much financial assistance can I get from PCSO?
The amount of medical assistance that an indigent patient can get from PCSO depends on the recommendation of the attending physician and the decision of the Board of Trustees.
However, there are limits on the amount that PCSO can give per patient per year. For inpatient care, the limit is PHP 200,000.00; while for outpatient care, the limit is PHP 10,000.00 per year.
Other forms of medical assistance that PCSO provides include free medicines, free diagnostic and laboratory services, and free transportation services for dialysis patients.
What are the medical conditions that are covered by PCSO?

What are the other requirements that I need to meet in order to avail of PCSO medical assistance?
Aside from passing the means test, there are other requirements that you need to meet in order to avail of PCSO medical assistance. These include:
-You must be a citizen of the Philippines
-You must be 18 years old or above
-You must be residing in the Philippines
-You must be able to produce a valid ID
-You should not be a recipient of any other health insurance program
Can I avail of PCSO medical assistance if I am not a Filipino citizen?
No, you must be a Filipino citizen in order to avail of PCSO medical assistance.
What are the documentary requirements that I need to submit when availing of PCSO medical assistance?
In order to avail of PCSO medical assistance, you will need to submit the following documents:
-A letter of request addressed to the Chairman and General Manager of PCSO
-Proof of Indigency such as an Issued Certificate of Indigency or a Letter of Indigency from your Local Social Welfare and Development Office (LSWDO)
-Two (2) pcs. 1×1 colored pictures with white background and complete name tag
-Government issued ID (preferably Driver’s License, Passport,Senior Citizen’s ID, etc.)
For minors (17 years old and below), in addition to the above-mentioned documents, they must also submit the following:
-Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) or Local Civil Registrar
-School ID (for students only)
I am a senior citizen. Can I still avail of PCSO medical assistance?
Yes, senior citizens are still eligible for PCSO medical assistance. However, there are some changes to the requirements for 2021.
Specifically, senior citizens must now submit a copy of their Medicare card when applying for assistance. In addition, they must also submit proof of income (e.g. pension statement, Social Security statement, bank statement).
The changes are designed to ensure that PCSO medical assistance is targeted at those who need it the most.
