In order to be eligible for the OWWA Medical assistance OFWs must be active members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. To become a member, OFWs must contribute 2% of their monthly salary to the OWWA fund.
Who is eligible for the OWWA Medical Assistance for OFWs?
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) provides Medical Assistance to land-based and sea-based Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their qualified dependents who meet any of the following conditions:
-An OFW with an existing OWWA membership who is undergoing medical treatment in an accredited hospital in the Philippines due to an employment-related injury or illness;
-A land-based OFW who is repatriated due to employment-related injury or illness and is undergoing medical treatment in an accredited hospital in the Philippines;
-A sea-based OFW who is repatriated due to employment-related injury or illness and is undergoing medical treatment in an accredited hospital within fifteen (15) days from arrival in the Philippines;
-The spouse or child of a deceased OFW who was receiving OWWA medical assistance at the time of death; or
-The legal dependent of an OFW who has been declared permanently unable to work by an attending physician and is undergoing medical treatment in an accredited hospital in the Philippines.

The OWWA Medical Assistance for OFWs is a program that provides financial assistance to OFWs who are in need of medical treatment. This program covers the cost of hospitalization, surgical procedures, and medication. It also provides transportation allowance for the OFW to and from the hospital.
How to avail of the OWWA Medical Assistance for OFWs?
