What is the Medication Assistance Program?

The Medication Assistance Program at Mission Hospital provides free or low-cost medications to low-income, uninsured patients. Patients must be 18 years of age or older and must meet certain financial and residency requirements. For more information, please call our Financial Counselors at (949) 234-1310.

How does the Program work?

Mission Hospital’s medication assistance program provides free or low-cost medications to eligible patients who cannot afford their medications. The program is available to patients who are enrolled in a Mission Hospital medical practice. To participate in the program, patients must meet the following criteria:
-Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
-Be 18 years of age or older
-Have a household income at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level
-Not be eligible for any government prescription assistance programs, such as Medicare or Medicaid

Once enrolled, patients will be asked to provide proof of income and residency. They will then be able to pick up their medications at any Mission Hospital pharmacy location. For more information, please call the Medication Assistance Program hotline at (949) 364-7700.

Who is eligible for the Program?

To be eligible for the program, patients must:
-Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
-Be currently experiencing financial hardship
-Be prescribed a medication that is not covered by insurance
-Have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level

What types of medications are covered?

The program covers a broad range of FDA-approved medications prescribed to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, depression, and more. To see the complete list of covered medications, please visit our website or give us a call.

How much does the Program cost?

The cost of the program is based on a sliding scale and is determined by your income and family size. There are no additional fees for services.

How do I sign up for the Program?

You can sign up for our Medication Assistance Program by coming into the hospital and speaking with a member of our Admitting staff.

What are the benefits of the Program?

The Mission Hospital Medication Assistance Program is designed to help low-income, uninsured patients access the medications they need. The program provides financial assistance to eligible patients who are enrolled in Medicaid or who are otherwise unable to afford their medications.

Patients who are enrolled in the program will receive a discount on their medications. The program also offers other benefits, such as free transportation to and from appointments, and access to care coordinators who can help patients navigate the often complex world of health care

What are the drawbacks of the Program?

The Mission Hospital Medication Assistance Program has helped many people in our community afford their medications. However, the program has some drawbacks.

The first drawback is that the program is only available to residents of Mission Hospital. This means that people who live outside of our hospital’s service area cannot participate in the program.

Another drawback is that the program only covers medications that are prescribed by a Mission Hospital doctor. This means that people who get their care from another hospital or Health Care provider will not be able to participate in the program.

Lastly, the program only covers medications that are FDA-approved. This means that there are some medications that people might need that they will not be able to get through the program.

Despite these drawbacks, the Mission Hospital Medication Assistance Program has helped many people in our community afford their medications. If you or someone you know needs assistance paying for medication, please contact our hospital’s financial assistance office.
